What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website stores in your browser. This policy also covers similar technologies, such as the browser's local storage (localStorage) and tracking pixels. Throughout this text we call all of them “cookies”.
What the site uses today
None. The ShopGuru website does not set cookies and does not store data on your device. It does not load third-party services either: no traffic analytics, no advertising pixels, no social media buttons and no embedded videos or maps.
Fonts and images are served from our own domain, so opening a page does not send requests to other companies. Links to external sites, such as the Complaints Book (Livro de Reclamações), Wikimedia Commons or WhatsApp, only contact those sites if you click them; from then on, their policies apply. The WhatsApp buttons, including the one fixed to the corner of the screen, are just links and do not set cookies.

What may change
Payment takes place on the Stripe Checkout page, hosted by Stripe, our payment provider. Stripe uses its own cookies on that page, for example to prevent fraud and keep the payment secure. Those cookies are Stripe's responsibility and are governed by Stripe's cookie policy.
If the site starts using cookies, even strictly necessary ones, we will list them here, with their name, purpose and duration, before they come into use.
If we use non-essential cookies
If we ever add preference, analytics or advertising cookies, we will only set them after asking for your consent, as required by Article 5 of Law No. 41/2004. In that case:
- no non-essential cookie is set before you answer;
- refusing is as easy as accepting, on the same screen and with the same prominence;
- you can choose by category, instead of accepting all or nothing;
- you can change your mind at any time, from a link in the footer;
- we update this policy and the table above before the cookies come into use.

This policy follows Law No. 41/2004 of 18 August, as amended by Law No. 46/2012 of 29 August, and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR), implemented in Portugal by Law No. 58/2019 of 8 August.
